Over 549,000 people have no power in 11 states and the District of Columbia as a result of the recent destructive storms. The storms barreled east from Indiana toward New Jersey and have brought extreme heat in the aftermath. This record heat wave will start to expand towards the east in the next few days bringing high temperatures and humidity levels making dangerous heat values into the triple digits. From Ohio to New Jersey, 22 people died from the storms, 13 of which were from Virginia. The second round of storms left three more people dead.

Recent “no-named” northern storm brought unknowing disaster leaving millions without power and with wind damage, homes destroyed, and facing millions of dollars in losses. These unexpected “no-named storms” can prove to be just as deadly and cause as much damage as named hurricanes. For the fraudster, it doesn’t matter whether the storm has a name. What does matter is desperate Americans looking for quick fixes to help them during a time of tragedy. For the fraudster it is ripe pickens looking for great opportunities to scam people. Watch out for the stranger who rolls into your town like a tumble weed with no real purpose but to defraud during times of tragedy says Linda Webb, The Fraud Dog.
